North Georgia College & State University seeks a full-time instructor in Chinese to work at Ft. Benning in Columbus, Georgia, beginning January 14 and concluding April 26, 2013. The curriculum will include the first four courses in the Chinese language curriculum for beginning learners, CHIN 1001, 1002, 2001, and 2002. Students will be 2nd lieutenants in the U.S. Army. The cohort will be up to 20 lieutenants. Instruction is five days per week, and the curriculum will follow the one already established at North Georgia. In addition to the lead instructor, the team will include two Chinese language tutors.
The successful applicant will be a full-time, benefited employee of North Georgia College & State University for the spring semester. Salary is commensurate with experience. Given the instructional demand, it is expected that the successful applicant will live within reasonable commuting distance of Ft. Benning. The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering the curriculum, including submitting final grades, and working with the tutors.
Minimum qualifications: Master’s degree in Chinese language and literature or Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.
Experience teaching Chinese preferred.
