The University of Southern Mississippi invites applicants for one full-time, nine-month, tenure-track faculty position as assistant professor in secondary education in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction and Special Education, College of Education and Psychology.

Teaches undergraduate and graduate secondary education courses

Applications will be accepted until February 28, 2013. However, the search will continue until the position is filled.

Duties and Responsibilities:
He/she advises and mentors undergraduate and graduate students; supervises clinical and field experiences; builds collaborative relationships with P-12 faculties; conducts, presents and publishes scholarly research; provides service to the department, the university and the community; and secures internal and external funding sources.

Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum
• Earned doctorate in secondary education, or closely related field
• State or national credentials in the field of education
• Minimum of three years' teaching experience at the secondary level
• Experience in online teaching experience (i.e. IVN, BlackBoard, etc)

ABD candidates may apply but must complete degree no later than May 2013. All candidates are expected to demonstrate the capacity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary department.

Preferred
• An established record of scholarly productivity or strong evidence of potential of such productivity
• Demonstrated capacity in obtaining external funding and administering funded projects
• At least one year of postdoctoral experience

Starting Date: Successful candidates will begin no later than fall 2013.

Location:
The position is based at the Gulf Park campus.
