The instructional assistant provides instructional support for courses and activities held in HCC's newly-renovated fitness center, and teaches between five and seven credit hours of physical education courses per semester. Duties include providing instruction to credit and recreation students; completing equipment orientations and fitness assessments; supervising work-study students; and assisting in oversight of the overall operations of the fitness center. In addition, the assistant develops and coordinates wellness-related programs.
Work schedule is up to 20 hours per week; flexibility in work schedule is required, to include day, evening, and weekend hours to be determined by the supervisor.
Compensation includes hourly rate plus adjunct teaching compensation.
A bachelor's degree in physical education, exercise science, or exercise physiology is required. Candidates must possess a current CPR/AED and be willing to obtain a nationally-recognized personal training or strength and conditioning certification. Previous experience in fitness center instruction, developing and implementing wellness programs, and/or teaching physical education or fitness classes is preferred.
