Job Description Summary:

The Investment Office is seeking an individual who is flexible, curious, detail oriented, resourceful and hardworking to join the investment team as an analyst. As an important member of an eight person team, the main role of this individual is to support the investment team in the oversight and ongoing due diligence of investment managers consisting of traditional and alternative asset classes. George Washington University’s Investment Office manages the university’s Unitized Endowment Pool (AUM of $850m), which represents the majority of GW’s Endowment.

This is a entry level opportunity for an individual who is seeking to build a career in investment management. This position is also a limited term position that would last a maximum of two years.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2-3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

Strong analytical and problem solving skills desired.

Advanced skills in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Ability to adapt quickly to new software preferred.

Knowledge of or willingness to learn Bloomberg and other information systems.

Strong communication skills, both oral and written are desired.

Demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills including flexibility, relationship building, openness to the ideas of others and ability to collaborate effectively within and across the university.

Willingness and ability to bring a high-energy,strong work ethic, focused and dedicated effort to producing work of the highest quality in the Investment Office.

Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.

Job Duties

  • Supports senior investment team in the oversight and ongoing due diligence of investment managers consisting of traditional and alternative asset classes.

  • Prepares quarterly exposure, liquidity reports and monthly portfolio monitoring reports and other reporting requirements.

  • Organizes and maintains electronic reports and information received from investment managers.

  • Operates as an integral member of the investment team.

  • Provides analytical support in portfolio research, industry research, capital markets research, portfolio construction and portfolio monitoring.

  • Participate in the development of investment themes.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
