Nature of Work: Assist in managing and growing the Center for Advanced Logistics Management (CALM) ? presently funded through a cooperative agreement with the United States Marine Corps (USMC). Serve as the deputy to the CALM Executive Director and provides operational support for the CALM effort. Maintain and grow partnerships with military, industry, trade associations, and academia to promote and advance the vision, mission, goals, and driving principles established for the Center. Work closely with the CALM Executive Director to monitor the program budget and oversee the daily operation of the CALM team including primary oversight of the computer lab graduate students and interns who support the lab. Coordinate with faculty and staff to develop and refine supply chain and logistics course curricula. In close coordination with external stakeholders (e.g., USMC customer), plan and execute workshops, seminars, and conferences in the furtherance of the CALM effort.
Training and Experience: Masters degree required. Terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., DBA) is desirable, but not required. Formal degree or significant training and coursework in logistics, operations, supply chain management, or related area is desirable, but not required.
Experience teaching in higher education or training in relevant corporate settings highly desired.
Experience managing diverse project teams to accomplish complex tasks highly desired.
Testing Requirements:
Illustrative Examples of Work: Maintain and grow corporate relationships, leads and actively manages student projects and internships with Center corporate partners. Supports other Center activities, such as planning and executing an annual Global Supply Chain conference
Oversees and expands a network of corporate and government internships, cooperative assignments, and permanent employment opportunities for students, alumni and for faculty, as appropriate
Works with Center partners to identify value creation opportunities for student projects that will have specific assessment metrics
Gathers and maintains knowledge of current student skill sets and monitors application of same to Center project needs
Promotes Capstone exercises as an academic strategy to guide student project teams through problem definition, issue identification, and development of project and work plans to prepare students for real-world problem solving
Teaches effectively a broad range of potential supply chain and operations/logistics courses
Provides effective leadership, promotional efforts, and daily management for a complex, dynamic Center with a diverse set of stakeholders
Participates in the establishment of training seminars and certificate programs for non-traditional students
Promotes grants writing and applications for federal contracts among faculty
Performs other duties, as required.
