PRESIDENT
American University in Kosovo
Pristina, Kosovo
The American University in Kosovo (AUK), the republic’s only private, non-profit, English-language university, seeks a President. The position is available no later than summer 2013.
Governed by a distinguished board of American, Kosovar, and other international trustees, AUK is one of the leading universities in Southeastern Europe. Through its partnership with the Rochester Institute of Technology, AUK offers students of diverse backgrounds and nationalities a US-accredited education that prepares them for leadership in their communities. The university also has additional partnerships with other leading international universities, including Dartmouth College, France’s National Institute for Political Sciences, Lund University, and University College Utrecht.
Founded in 2003, AUK graduated its first four-year class in 2007. The university offers several fully accredited undergraduate and graduate degrees. The American, European, and Kosovar faculty of over 50 serves approximately 600 undergraduate and 80 graduate students. Throughout its brief history AUK has enjoyed exceptional success in placing virtually all its graduates in post-graduate study or employment. Additionally, the AUK Training and Development Institute offers the region a growing number of continuing education programs in IT, Entrepreneurship, Management, Languages, Aviation and Travel/Tourism. Detailed information is available at www.AUKonline.org [3].
AUK is seeking an exceptional leader to build on its accomplishments of the past decade, further enhance its programs, and achieve its ambitious expansion plans to meet the higher education needs of Kosovo and Southeastern Europe. Candidates should hold a doctoral/terminal degree or have equivalent professional accomplishment and evidence a commitment to student-centered, leadership-focused education. We are seeking candidates who have demonstrated success in leading a complex enterprise, experience in guiding growth and change, and evidence of effective financial management. Entrepreneurial experience and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, trustees, and governmental authorities in a multicultural environment are critical. Capability in development, advocacy, and team building is essential. International experience is a plus, and an understanding of the region is helpful. Compensation and benefits are competitive.
