Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Michigan, seeks a dynamic president to lead this outstanding and rapidly expanding institution. HFCC is a comprehensive public community college serving about 18,000 students each semester across three campuses in southeast Michigan: Main Campus and Dearborn Heights. The third campus, East Campus, is home to the HFCC School of Nursing and M-TEC Division. HFCC is dedicated to preparing students for a rapidly changing world and workplace by offering more than 100 associate degree career and university transfer programs. HFCC offers high-quality, innovative programs to meet the educational and training needs of the region. Students may choose programs designed to seamlessly transfer to four-year institutions, or to prepare them for the new workforce.
The HFCC Board of Trustees seeks a new president, a visionary who is a collaborative leader, and who had the background and experience to lead HFCC as a valued member of the Dearborn community and the surrounding areas. The president is the chief executive officer of the college and reports directly to the elected seven-member Board of Trustees. The new president will be prepared to lead this outstanding and diverse College to a bright future. He or she will have a solid background in financial management, teaching and/or counseling, higher education administration and community relations. Internally, she or he will foster a culture of trust, innovation and success across all levels of the institution and externally will promote an understanding of – and financial support for – the College in Dearborn, its surrounding communities, in the state of Michigan and nationally.
Ideally, the new president will have a demonstrated passion for community colleges and for student success and development, and will possess outstanding expertise in the following areas:
•Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills that facilitate relationship-building, collegiality, and trust;
•Strong experience in budgeting and financial management; and fundraising and development;
•The ability to work collaboratively and successfully with unions representing the College’s employee groups;
•Excellent business acumen and positive experience in advocating for the College to governmental, professional, and civic organizations;
•Successful experience in Board relations; strategic planning; and institutional assessment;
•An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (preferred, but not required).
