The Nurse Practitioner in the Pulmonary Department functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team to provide services to the adult patient population with specific emphasis on pulmonary disease prevention and management. Will function as an advance practice nurse providing medical care to patients in collaboration with and under the direction of a physician licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Under the supervision of a collaborating physician, provides relevant health instruction and counseling. Obtains health history and performs appropriate physical examinations; prescribes under physician supervision unless has independent prescriptive license. Coordinates follow-up for patients seen. Responsible for following up on referrals to ensure patient compliance with health care recommendations. Assists in the development of nursing and nurse practitioner protocols. Solves complex problems within established policies; applies significant judgment within clinical specialty; investigates and implements best practices; relies on technical expertise, peers and management for problem-solving resources; makes decisions, within scope of professional practice, that impact clinical care within a department. Establishes and maintains working rapport with a broad range of internal and external contacts to communicate information; mentors, coaches and directs employees and serves as a key liaison and spokesperson for the subunit. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
Certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner by the Pennsylvania Board of Medical Education and Licensure. At least one year related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Must have the ability to handle extensive patient and physician contact.
* Excellent interpersonal skills are essential.
*Working knowledge of all applicable computer software.
*Knowledge of applicable professional principles.
Preferred:
*Pulmonary experience.
*Bilingual (English/Spanish).
