Job Description Summary:
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, or higher degree, in an appropriate area of specialization and a minimum of eight years of relevant experience. Degree requirements may be substituted for an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

A significant record of highly-respected scholarly publications is strongly desirable. Applicants should be visionary, with strong leadership, teaching, mentoring and administrative talents. Prior experience in leading multi-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary initiatives focused on complex problems is highly desirable, as it will guide GWs cross-cutting innovations in undergraduate and graduate sustainability education.

A proven record of institutional development, a background in public policy work, and international experience with sustainability issues is desired.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

Job Duties

  • Guides the development of GWs university-wide sustainability initiative with the goal of building a premier university program on policy and governance for sustainable systems.

  • Leads the research, curricular, outreach, and operational components of the universitys sustainability initiative.

  • Works closely with the University President to attract leading faculty from a variety of disciplines to advance the universitys sustainability mission.

  • Collaborates with faculty and staff with sustainability expertise in developing academic programs and advancing grant-supported sustainability research.

  • Coordinates with GWs Office of Sustainability, to expand GWs successful sustainability outreach and practice initiatives.

  • Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
