The Department of Judaic & Near Eastern Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Modern Hebrew, to begin Fall 2013. Initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of reappointment for subsequent periods. The ideal candidate will be trained in the teaching of Modern Hebrew at the college level. A Masters in Modern Hebrew or a related field, or the equivalent, is required at the time of appointment. Native or near-native fluency in Hebrew and demonstrated experience teaching native English speakers is strongly preferred. Teaching responsibilities will include 3 sections per semester of Hebrew at the first and second year level, one of them intensive. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
