The Director, Application Services provides strategic and operational leadership in the design and development of the college's applications. The director works closely with the college and Information Services (IS) leadership to effectively translate business strategy and objectives into technological capability. The director drives strategy and manages resources to ensure best in class solutions that are of high quality, cost effective, innovative, and sustainable.
The director is responsible for providing strategic direction and day-to-day leadership to Application Development & Support, Systems Administration, Software Integration, and Media and Web Services teams. The director, in conjunction with the Chief Technology Officer, is responsible for the development of budget, policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in in a discipline such as information systems, business, computer science or related discipline required.
Minimum of eight years Information technology (IT) experience including seven years of experience in software development, progressing in complexity and responsibility, four years of experience with web content management systems and web application development, four years of experience in installing, implementing, maintaining and supporting vendor developed administrative systems, four years of experience in project management and leadership with demonstrated success in leading technical teams and executing technical projects, and five years of experience in leadership position managing/supervising medium to large size (15-20) IT teams.
Experience with providing technology direction and architecture guidance for enterprise-wide solutions required.
Experience in successfully managing budgets (departmental and/or project).
Experience participating in the financial planning process (departmental and/or project).
Possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner to persons of varying technical expertise and provide clear, concise directions and guidance to staff.
Experience in delivering technical solutions through both vendor and employee resources.
Proven success in the design/delivery of complex, best-in-class enterprise-level software applications.
Possess knowledge of relational databases, UNIX and Client Server environments.
Demonstrated organizational, planning and negotiation skills.
Strong leadership and team building skills and ability to gain cooperation and to motivate others.
Ability to build consensus among end-users with various perspectives.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department.
Ability to deal effectively with administrators, vendors, faculty and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred/highly desirable.
Knowledge of XML, XSLT, .Net, C#, SharePoint and object oriented design methodology preferred.
Experience with Business Intelligence products highly desirable.
