The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a lecturer in English/Academic Advising within the department of Arts and Humanities. This appointment is expected to begin August 1,2013 pending funding. Review of applications will begin January 21, 2013 and will continue until the position is filled.
This is an academic year (10) month non-tenure track position that is renewable on a year to year basis. The candidate will teach college and remedial level English courses and advise freshmen and sophomore students in the School of Arts and Sciences. The position consists of half-time teaching and half-time advising. As an academic advisor the candidate will advise freshmen and sophomore students, assisting in program and course selection. The successful candidate will be expected to have a commitment to excellence in teaching, professional development and serving students in a collegial setting. In addition the candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with others and be willing to teach both day and evening classes at the Brunswick campus or the Camden center location as needed.
Essential qualifications include a Master’s degree in English from a regionally accredited institution, experience teaching composition at the college level and experience in academic advising.
The successful candidate will have a commitment to service learning and be expected to engage with the College Service Learning Program. Other desirable qualifications include computer literacy and the ability to utilize instructional technology in the classroom.
