The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tenure track position in History within the department of Social Sciences. Rank will be commensurate with education and experience. This appointment is expected to begin August 1, 2013 pending funding. Review of applications will begin January 21, 2013 and will continue until the position is filled.
The teaching responsibilities include American History as well as upper and lower division level courses. This position provides an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to a new Bachelor of Arts program in American Studies. In addition the candidate will be expected to have a commitment to excellence in teaching, professional development and to serving students in a collegial setting. In addition the candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with others and be willing to teach both day and evening classes at the Brunswick campus or the Camden center location as needed.
Essential qualifications include a Doctoral degree in history from a regionally accredited institution. The successful candidate will also have expertise in cultural history and or history of the Atlantic World that can contribute to the American Studies program.
The successful candidate will have a commitment to Service Learning and will be expected to engage with the College Service Learning Program. Other desirable qualifications include computer literacy and the ability to utilize technology in the classroom.
