Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine operates a small animal Veterinary Teaching Hospital to serve the needs of the community and to provide an experiential learning environment in clinical medicine and surgery for veterinary students. The hospital provides a broad range of clinical services, including 24-hour emergency coverage, throughout the year. The facility has a full-time hospital director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support for clinicians in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. In addition to providing clinical assistance, participating in the instruction and support of DVM students is part of the daily routine. The technicians are expected to carry out duties and responsibilities assigned by the Hospital Director as the need arises. Technicians also support the Large Animal Surgery Labs.
- Certification and/or an associate’s degree with a minimum of 2 years experience working in a clinical setting in the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, or equivalent is required.
- Must possess standard technical skills, including but not limited to, animal restraint, catheter placement, blood collection, use of standard diagnostic imaging equipment, use of an I-Stat machine, and diagnostic equipment, such as Doppler, EKG, and multi-function monitors.
- A desire to interact with and instruct veterinary students is also a requirement.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere.
