The UMass Journalism Program seeks a lecturer to develop and teach a series of courses in television/broadcast/multimedia journalism to be offered in a new state-of-the art broadcast newsroom. The lecturer will teach six courses per year, most in the broadcast curriculum, will help students produce content for distribution on campus Web and broadcast platforms and will contribute related academic service. We seek a colleague with broad professional and teaching abilities, who can help students develop basic and advanced cross-platform skills and a contextual and critical approach to the field.
The Journalism Program, Department of Communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, seeks a lecturer to develop and teach a series of courses in television/video/multimedia journalism to be offered in a state-of-the art broadcast newsroom, located in a new building scheduled to open in Fall 2014.
The lecturer will help lead our expansion of the broadcast program and will teach six courses per year, most in the broadcast curriculum. The lecturer also will help students produce content and programming for distribution on campus Web and broadcast platforms and will contribute related academic service. We seek a colleague with broad professional and teaching abilities, who can help students develop basic and advanced cross-platform skills and a contextual and critical approach to the field. The program is especially interested in candidates with a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in a multicultural educational environment.
Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Journalism or a closely related field and significant professional experience. The position begins Sept. 1, 2013, and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
