FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Chair of the Accounting Department reports to the Dean of the School of Business. The Chair is responsible for administering and representing a department that offers the Bachelor's of Science and Master's of Science degrees in accounting. In addition, the Chair will be expected to perform teaching duties. The selected candidate will be a scholar in the field of accountancy with a proven record of scholarship who is outcomes-driven and has the capacity and experience to successfully lead the effort of strengthening the School of Business' accountancy program. Appointment to the position will be at the rank of associate or full professor. Tenure may be granted upon appointment, depending on qualifications and background experience. The appointment begins on or before August 1, 2013. All appointments are subject to financial availability.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in accounting from an AACSB or similarly accredited business school; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State; evidence of a strong and consistent research record over the course of the candidate's academic career; a strong record of current publications in scholarly peer-reviewed accounting/business journals; and a history of excellent teaching skills. Preference will be given to candidate with the following attributes: (1) experience in curriculum development; (2) commitment to mentoring junior faculty and encouraging faculty development; (3) excellent interpersonal skills; (4) previous academic administrative experience; (5) effective teaching skills; (6) professional experience; (7) previous experience with initial application for AACSB accreditation or familiarity with the accreditation process; and (8) experience with fundraising for academic programs.
