The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible installation, maintenance and upgrades for the Colleges Oracle database systems and supporting tools including but not limited to: Oracle RDBMS, Oracle Application Servers, Oracle Reports and Forms and the Ellucian (Banner) ERP.
This position is a member of the Resources and Access (RA) Department, which focuses on direct services and support for students, faculty and staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•Install, administer, maintain, support, monitor the performance and upgrades to the Oracle infrastructure to include but not limited to: RDBMS, related Oracle tools, Ellucian Banner software, Oracle Application Servers, Oracle Portal, and Oracle Forms and Reports.
•Manage upgrades, patches and fixes to the Oracle RDBMS and related tools.
•Develop, execute and verify Oracle database backup and restoration strategies, policies and procedures.
•Install, administer, maintain, support and monitor the performance of the ERP and related integrated applications.
•Automate processes to monitor resource utilization and performance of Oracle and ERP-related applications and tools.
•Diagnose and resolve problems and errors related to the Oracle RDBMS, the ERP and related software applications and tools.
•Serve as a technical subject matter expert for application developers and other technical staff. Provide and maintain appropriate Oracle and ERP test and development environments for the use of developers, other technical staff, and members of client offices. Provide assistance in application integration and problem resolution.
•Implement and maintain highly reliable, available, secure systems and make recommendations for improving operational efficiencies.
FREQUENT CONTACTS:
This position frequently interacts closely with business office staff and college occasionally with college faculty, providing technical support, training and gathering specifications for work to be completed. It may interact with outside vendors for service, preventative maintenance, or acquiring software and/or hardware components.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

•Proficiency in Oracle database administration. At least several years of experience with Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server (IAS 9i and above).
•Programming experience with SQL and PL/SQL.
•Oracle Certified Professional training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Experience with ERP administration. Experience with Ellucian’s (Banner) administration highly preferred, specifically managing and implementing Banner upgrades.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education/Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree, in computer science or a related field preferred
•A minimum of three years working as a database administrator using Oracle, Oracle Tools, and Oracle development languages;
•An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
