The Arizona Center for Judaic Studies at The University of Arizona seeks an energetic candidate for a new faculty position in Modern Israel Studies to begin in August 2013, contingent on availability of funding. The rank and area of specialization are open but preference will be given to candidates whose approach typifies the best interdisciplinary practices in the Social Sciences and Humanities.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. upon the date of hire. Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and demonstrated potential for excellence in research are required. Preference will be given to candidates who wish to be part of a growing and dynamic academic unit that is committed to creating a center of excellence and influence in the area of Modern Israel Studies. The Center seeks an individual who desires to work with diverse students, colleagues, and constituents, and who has experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives.
The Center currently has a vibrant Modern Hebrew Program, one of the largest in the country, and a tremendous community support base. The Center regularly hosts nationally and internationally recognized visiting speakers, organizes academic conferences, and provides extensive outreach activities both on and off campus.
