The primary function of this position is to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward leadership gift
donors with outright and planned giving potential of $50,000 or more to increase overall gift revenue for the College. The individual in this position will be responsible for capital and endowment gifts, estate gifts and annual Pioneer Fund gifts. The Associate Director will play a lead role in the marketing, cultivation, staff training and solicitation of planned gifts and will have a solid knowledge of the various planned gift options.
Working closely with colleagues throughout the department of Development and Alumni Relations, the associate director will be an active participant in alumni events and reunion giving initiatives and will work closely with Alumni Relations colleagues in strengthening alumni engagement. As an active and visible member of the Grinnell campus community, the associate director will serve as a conduit and “bridge-builder” with faculty, staff and other campus constituents and may be called upon to represent the College in multiple ways beyond the scope of the job description.
The associate director will actively manage a regional portfolio of approximately 150 leadership gift prospects. Extensive travel is required to perform this function. A bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) and at least five years experience in higher education or non-profit major gift fundraising are required. The successful candidate will have a clear understanding of and support for the role of a liberal arts education.
