Job Description: The Department of Health Services and Information Management at East Carolina University (ECU) invites applicants for an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, twelve-month, tenure-track faculty position in Health Informatics.
ECU is a constituent of the University of North Carolina and classified as Doctoral/Research-Intensive University. Located in Greenville, North Carolina, ECU is the third largest of the 16-campus University of North Carolina System. The Department of Health Services and Information Management offers a Master of Science in Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) and a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Management (HSM).
The Department provides opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with clinical faculty in the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry and Colleges of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, and many other Colleges and programs across the campus. ECU seeks to attract an active, culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber, skilled in scholarship of teaching, discovery, application and integration of knowledge.
Duties: The successful candidate will teach in the HIIM program, mentor students, conduct investigator initiated research, and provide university, professional, and community service, consistent with tenure track faculty members at ECU.
Teaching responsibilities may include but are not limited to multiple sections of one or more of the following: foundations of information technologies, health information standards, health information privacy and security, health Information systems design, software engineering in health care, and other areas of health informatics, health information management, or health services administration.
Minimum Qualifications: Qualifications: Candidate must have an earned doctorate, from an appropriately accredited institution, in hand by the time of appointment, preferably in health informatics, biomedical informatics, health information management, health information systems or a related area and communication skills necessary for effective teaching, research, and service.
Experiences in on-line and distance education are preferred.
Salary is commensurate with experience and training. Start-up funds are available. The position is available July 1, 2013.
