Executive Vice President and Provost

Woodbury University, located in beautiful, sunny Southern California in the Verdugo Hills of Burbank and with a campus in San Diego, invites applications and nominations for the Executive Vice President and Provost, the chief academic and operating officer and the #2 institutional leader of the university. He/She will partner with the dynamic new president in initiating and implementing necessary innovation and change, utilizing best practices to provide academic and institutional excellence resulting in a quality educational, moral and civic experience for Woodbury’s highest priority, its students.

One of the oldest institutions of higher education in the West (1884), Woodbury has its origins as a business college. In the spirit of the pioneers of the West…the rest is history! Today, Woodbury, a value-oriented and mission-driven, private university, is recognized as a leader in educating an extremely diverse, largely first generation, student body. Non-traditional students make up 30% of total enrollment. The remaining student body consists of 30% Hispanic, 20% Armenian, 9% Asian-American, 5% African-American and 13% international students. One can see that there is a real commitment to diversity at Woodbury.

Given Woodbury’s history and mission, the successful candidate must be an individual of the highest integrity, be able to provide inspirational leadership, be a seasoned, experienced, proven, and transparent academic and administrative leader with a terminal degree and a record of achievement at the academic vice president or provost level, warranting the rank of full professor and the title of executive vice president.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for short- and long-term program development, implementation and monitoring of all academic programs, as well as other areas critical for the day-to-day functioning of the faculty and staff. Other key qualities necessary include a record of strategic leadership, a history of building academic excellence, significant budgetary and planning experience, exceptional interpersonal and communicational skills, a leadership/management style that fosters collaboration, collegiality and transparency, a demonstrated commitment to diversity and globalization, and a sense of humor. The ability to inspire, to establish clear boundaries and to implement new programs, is essential.
