The University invites applications for a full-time, temporary faculty position at the Assistant Professor or Instructor level in Computer Science for its Applied Computer Science (ACS) Program. This position will begin January 12, 2013 and end May 31, 2013.
Essential Duties: This position may require development and teaching of online/distance education courses and instruction at the Clearfield Branch campus.
Additional requirements include maintaining office hours.
Specific Duties: Responsibilities include teaching introductory and advanced courses in Computer Science and Information Systems.
Experience in any or all of the following areas is preferred: Java/C/C++, Systems Administration, Computer Networking and Data Communications, Database Management Systems (Oracle/MySQL) and IT Project Management.
Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): Master’s degree plus additional graduate work in Computer Science is required.
A terminal degree is required for appointment as Assistant Professor, without the terminal degree candidate will be appointed as Instructor.
If candidate does not hold a terminal degree in computer science, relevant teaching and/or work experience directly related to the teaching assignment is required.
Evidence of teaching effectiveness and an explanation of teaching philosophy must be provided.
In addition to the responsibilities and qualifications listed above, the successful candidate must communicate well and perform well in an interview and/or teaching demonstration and successfully complete the interview process.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline is preferred.
