Essential Job Duties:
Visit schools to supervise and observe student teachers and other related duties as assigned.
This position involves the supervision of student teachers during their practicum. The university supervisor serves as the liaison between schools where students are placed and the university program coordinator. It requires continuous communication and coordination with cooperating teachers and their student teachers. The university supervisor must monitor student teacher progress and be responsible for communicating potential difficulties to the university program coordinator.
University supervisor for student teachers in the areas of: Business and Marketing Ed, Special Ed, Middle Grades Language Arts and Social Studies, English Education (Secondary), Social Studies (Secondary), and Foreign Language (Spanish and French).
Minimum Experience/Education:
Bachelor’s Degree Required
Must hold or be eligible to hold a NC teaching license
Classroom teaching experience
Departmental Required Skills:
Experience teaching in subject area(s) supervised at the middle school and/or high school level.
Must be able to meet travel requirements, travel to observation locations within Wake county using own transportation methods.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
Master’s Degree Preferred
National Board certified, mentor trained, past experience as a cooperating teacher, and/or experiencing working with pre-service teachers at the college level. Priority will be given to applicants who have experience as a university supervisor of student teachers.
