Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry

SUNY Adirondack (SUNY-ADK) is a comprehensive community college and member of the State University of New York serving approximately 3,500 full- and part-time credit students annually. Located in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, SUNY-ADK is one hour north of Albany, twenty minutes from historic Saratoga Springs, and just minutes from Lake George. ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF CHEMISTRY

Starting Fall 2013

The instructional responsibilities for this full-time tenure track position in the Science Division will involve teaching both major and non-major chemistry courses, as well as potentially courses in Environmental Science. The willingness to work cooperatively in a team setting in order to create and assess curricula is a necessity. Service on college-wide committees as well as other duties may be required as defined by the faculty contract.

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy; familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom; teaching strategies with a focus on student-centered learning; excellent interpersonal skills; and a willingness to work in a collegial setting within the division.

A Master’s Degree in Chemistry or related appropriate field is required. Teaching experience at the college level is highly desirable, especially experience in a community college environment. Placement on salary scale reflects individual degrees/experience. The minimum salary is $39,544 (2011-12 faculty schedule) and is complemented by an excellent benefits package.
