The Public Relations Studies Program at USC Annenberg’s School of Journalism seeks applicants for two full time faculty positions: Associate Professor of Professional Practice (non tenure track), and Assistant Professor (tenure track). We recognize that PR/communication is undergoing revolutionary change and redefinition, and seek two colleagues eager to explore and lead these transformations, around one or more of the following areas:
“Big data” approaches to communication scholarship/the practice of public relations Communication across media platforms; transmedia storytelling
Entrepreneurship and innovation in advocacy communication
Visual communication; message design in the new media era
Candidates for Assistant Professor must have doctoral degrees (ABDs who will complete their degree work by August 1, 2013 will be considered); the ability to teach an array of courses in our applied public relations undergraduate and master’s degree programs; and substantive professional experience. Applicants with relevant background from related disciplines (marketing, business/management, law, political science, etc.) are welcome. Candidates must show potential for establishing a program of research in one of these areas: strategic communication; communication campaigns; metrics and evaluation; health, political, marketing, visual or international communication.
The new colleagues will teach undergraduate and graduate classes; advise graduate students and supervise thesis projects; engage in applied research conducted by the USC Annenberg Strategic Communication and Public relations center.
