Smith College is accepting applications for a Business Intelligence Developer. This position is responsible for integrating data from multiple sources to build business intelligence environments using Oracle Warehouse Builder, ODS, Cognos, Microsoft Access and associated campus databases and tools. This position is integral in advancing the reporting and analytics for administrative departments and will be responsible for the successful deployment of Business Intelligence solutions that are reliable, secure and meet reporting needs of management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for integrating data from multiple sources to build business intelligence environments that measure and help analyze business performance. Duties may include but not limited to:
•Design and develop ETL procedures to build the data warehouse.
•Develop metadata and documentation for business-definitions of data.
•Work with the Database Administrator to implement applications security.
•Design and develop multi-dimensional models for Business Intelligence OLAP analysis.
•Design and develop reports and dashboards as examples of effective use of the data warehouse and BI toolset.

Work with technical and administrative users to design, program and code new and existing data structures, models and reports in the data warehouse. Maintain relationships with the report developers in institutional research and other administrative departments to understand and deliver their reporting requirements, and to ensure report writers use BI tools effectively to meet those requirements.
Work with technical and administrative users to develop training materials for BI applications and reporting tools, deliver workshops and provide training and documentation to promote optimal use of the BI environment.

Perform other tasks assigned by the Director, which may include but not limited to:
•Continuous development of technical skills.
•Educate and advise administrative users about policies and procedures relevant to the maintenance and protection of college data.
•Attend classes and conferences to assess the impact of the latest advances in technology on the College.
•Monitor trade and scholarly journals and electronic resources to remain informed about changes in technology and users’ needs, and to expand customer service skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Institutional Research or related field and a minimum of three years of Oracle database programming experience, ETL development, OLAP modeling, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills: Minimum of 5 years experience in designing, developing and implementing data warehouses and Business Intelligence systems. Preference is given to experience in Cognos, Report Studio, and Query Studio, SQL/PL/SQL, XML, and Microsoft Access. Specific experience working with Oracle development tools used by SunGard in the Unix environment, including PL/SQL, Oracle Warehouse Builder and Operational Data Store (ODS) is highly desirable. Must be able to multi-task and turn from one project to another with relatively short notice. Must build and sustain excellent working relationships with the end-user community, provide responsive service and effective communications.
