Faculty Program Director, Technology

Excelsior College seeks applicants for a part-time (50%) position of Faculty Program Director, Technology and Electrical Engineering Programs(EET) Programs to work within the School of Business and Technology. This is a part-time position with benefits and located in Albany, NY.

The roles and responsibilities of the faculty program director include those of internal faculty of the School of Business and Technology as well as management and oversight of the delivery and development of the curriculum for the Technology and the Electrical Engineering Technology programs. The Faculty Program Director reports to Associate Dean in School of Business and Technology.  They fall into the following categories of the respective program:

• Oversight for curriculum development, implementation and evaluation
• Project manager
• Human resource manager
• Facilitator

The faculty program director works closely with all other School of Business and Technology staff and faculty and supportive units of the college, such as the Assessment Unit, to ensure quality of the respective program and services.  Staff and faculty include Directors of Advisement and Evaluation, Assistant Deans, Associate Deans, and the Dean, internal faculty, support staff, and external faculty groups that support curriculum development, and delivery, instruction and advisory services in the School of Business and Technology.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Direct curriculum development, implementation and evaluation
   1. Chair/participate in faculty subcommittee(s)
      1. Overall curriculum
      2. Performance evaluation
      3. Course Development
   2. Oversee development, implementation, continual evaluation and revision of curriculum including exams and courses.
   3. Collaborate with other units of the college in activities that support implementation, continual evaluation and revision of the curriculum.
   4. Collaborate with DAE and advisors in student advisement activities
   5. Provide consultation services as requested
   6. Represent the college at professional meeting and forums
   7. Participate in scholarly activities supportive of the educational enterprise including research and development activities (participation in professional organizations, through publications and presentations).
   8. Participate in School of Business and Technology (SBT) college wide committees:
      1. Program Evaluation Committee
      2. Evaluation Task Force
      3. Faculty Role Committee
      4. Other committees as assigned
   9. Collaborate with other units for provision of student services
   10. Collaborate with other units for provision of marketing and enrolled student services.
2. Project Manager
1. Direct team work to actualize program goals that support the mission and strategic plan of the college and SBT.
2. Evaluate effectiveness of program operations and achievement of team goals
3. Establish effective work plans to accomplish program goals
4. Manage workflow efficiently
1. Coordinate faculty and support staff assignments
2. Collaborate with other units for provision of marketing and enrolled student services.
1. Conduct monthly team meetings as needed
2. Facilitate effective communication between the Technology Program and SBT, as well as with other units in the College
3. Facilitate effective communication, collaboration and consensus building among team members and promote team orientation
4. Create an atmosphere that promotes and encourages leadership behaviors from all team members
5. Orchestrate administrative aspects of examinations for credit, courses, and learning modules
6. Coordinate meetings with other faculty program directors, project directors, and faculty
7. Human Resource Manager
8. Facilitator

TRAVEL: Travel is required of all faculty and administrative personnel.  The amount of travel varies by position and may be extensive.

QUALIFICATIONS

• An earned Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in an engineering and technology discipline is preferred, along with at least five years of teaching experience in a university or 4 year college.
• Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication
• Ability to work with diverse constituencies and staff
• Demonstrated commitment to non-traditional education
• Experience in engineering/technology education and curriculum development
• Familiarity with on-line education required for undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering and technology
• Some experience in maintaining accredited programs in engineering and technology
