Description:

The University of Toronto Scarborough invites applications for a full time teaching stream appointment in the area of Health Studies. The appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer and will commence July 1, 2013.

We especially encourage applications from candidates with an excellent research record in health policy, the social, spatial and behavioural determinants of health, epidemiology, health services research, health economics, or community health. Special consideration will be given to candidates who have experience with curriculum renewal and who are adept at developing core courses that will provide a foundation for our undergraduate programs in Health. Initially, the Department of Anthropology will be the home department for this appointment, because currently, Health Studies is housed there. The area of Health Studies has been identified as a key priority for the University of Toronto Scarborough and we expect that Health Studies will become an independent unit in the near future.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and a commitment to pedagogical innovation. The successful candidate also will be expected to perform standard professional and administrative activities typical of a department and/or university. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Appointments at the rank of Lecturer may be renewed annually to a maximum of five years. In the fifth year of service, Lecturers shall be reviewed and a recommendation made with respect to promotion to the rank of Senior Lecturer.
