The Forensic Specialist will assist in the implementation of the Quality Enhancement Plan at Wiley College. Primary responsibilities include the teaching of basic argumentation to first year students, facilitating faculty development in argumentation, and assisting in implementation, modeling, and facilitating argumentation assignments and activities. The Forensic Specialist will facilitate exhibition debates and group discussions in various disciplines; engage members of the faculty to incorporate debate into all disciplines and majors; serve as co-tournament director for annual intramural debate tournament; serve as part-time coach for the Tolson/Washington Forensics Society; and serve as judge and chaperone at weekend forensics tournaments.
Master’s degree in Communication Studies or related field is required, doctorate preferred, and a minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience teaching, directing, or coaching a forensics team. Applicants must have a combination of six years of successful competitive and/or coaching experience on the high school or collegiate level; extensive knowledge of forensics rules, procedures, judging standards, forensics pedagogy, and team management methodologies. Competitive debate experience (PF, NFA LD, IPDA, Policy, Parli, etc.) and experience in tournament management or administration required.
