What We’re Looking For:
The Senior Director of Business Development will be responsible for a multi-million dollar revenue goal to be obtained by developing partnerships and strategies across 2U degree programs. This role will work with the senior leadership team to identify potential partners, build proposals, negotiate and close new deals. This position will also manage a team of 4-6 people and will be expected to mentor, train, and coach each team member to their revenue targets as well. A successful candidate will have a proven track record of successfully closing strategic marketing deals, both online and offline, with corporations, associations, websites, and other partners.
Responsibilities:
Identify and build partnerships resulting in students across multiple 2U programs
Must be able to articulate and control meetings with C level members as well as provosts and deans at top 20 Universities.
Build and execute student acquisition strategy
Manage the Pipeline of team members and drive other managers to achieve goals
Partner with universities and senior leaders to strategize and develop an overall business development and new lead generation strategy.
Develops and maintains mastery in positioning both 2U as well as 2U’s university partners / programs.
Develops annual strategic plans in conjunction with general manager of program and all appropriate internal stakeholders.
Weekly Update / Meetings with GMa and Directors of Marketing
Seeks out new opportunities to develop company’s presence with new and existing clients. Ensures renewal, growth and profitability of all partners.
Understands all financial aspects of program cost structure.
Proactively manages internal/external barriers and obstacles, and effects necessary changes.
Additionally, this person’s responsibilities will include:
Prospecting and contacting online vendor/media properties for cost-effective lead generation opportunities
Work with the marketing department on major initiatives for specific projects that have a significant online potential;
Evaluating and analyzing deal proposals for all new/renewal opportunities. Negotiate campaign placements at or below budget to maximize return on investment
Scaling existing vendor relationships to increase lead growth and profitability
Things That Should Be in Your Background:
7 + years experience developing partnerships in a B2B, B2C and internet environment
7 + years experience business development with a preferred focus on the EDU vertical
Intimate knowledge of all deal structures pertaining to online marketing campaigns: CPC, CPM, CPL, Flat Fee
3 + years experience in business development management or training
Working in a start up highly regarded
Has individual responsibility team responsibility for revenue goals.
Must be an active listener as well as an articulate and adaptable communicator. Excellent selling, interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
Proficient in MS Office.
Experience using reporting and data to drive decisions
