Position Summary:
As the Chief HR Officer for the College of Arts & Sciences, the Assistant Dean for Human Resources (Assistant Dean), has the primary responsibility and oversight for the operations of the central Human Resources office responsibilities that encompass both EPA and SPA personnel issues, faculty, EPA non faculty, staff, temporary employees and students. The Assistant Dean will participate in the management and policy-making for the College on EPA and SPA matters and functions in an advisory role to CAS senior administrators in policy analysis, review, development, and implementation. The Assistant Dean is a key strategic position in implementing the transition of service delivery in the College. This position will focus on leadership, strategic planning, change management, organizational development and customer relationship management. The Assistant Dean is responsible for establishing a robust governance structure that drives the partnership between the Business Center, its customers and key stakeholders by providing high-level oversight for the implementation, communication and service levels in respect to the Human Resources function. The Assistant Dean will be a critical player in achieving a culture of service within the College of Arts & Sciences Business Operations that will assure the College’s continued success in focusing on its primary mission, to create new knowledge and discover innovative solutions to the world’s greatest challenges, to educate our outstanding undergraduate and graduate students, and to contribute meaningfully to North Carolina, the nation and the world.
Education Requirements:
An MBA or relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required with a minimum of 5 years of related professional experience; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 7 years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.
Qualification and Experience:
Seven or more years of progressive experience in human resources; direct experience with change management and strategic planning; process improvements and team building experience; superior communication and decision-making skills. PHR or SPHR strongly preferred.
