THE OPPORTUNITY
The Office of Registrar at Edison State College is a fast-paced, student-centered environment that offers both variety and challenges in directing the registration process for three campuses and one center throughout a five-county area. As a member of the Enrollment Management team and a college administrator, the Registrar has a principal role in shaping and guiding the registration and enrollment management process for the College.
The Registrar will have the ability to develop and implement new programs and processes to ensure integrity of the registration system, while advancing the services offered through new technology initiatives. Additionally, this administrator is responsible for the integrity and confidentiality of academic records, complete compliance with FERPA, accurate federal enrollment reporting, and quality control assurance of student records.
The Registrar leads a department responsible for all activities pertaining to registration of all first-time, transfer, and returning students, as well as all activities related to the smooth functioning of student records, college catalogue, residency statutes and rules, graduation, and all other related college processes. The administrator motivates, engages, leads, and mentors the registration team in a collaborative effort with enrollment management.
Other responsibilities include:
--Provides overall leadership for the Office of the Registrar including, but not limited to, establishing goals and objectives for the department in collaboration with appropriate college leadership
--Oversees staff utilization of the Banner System for registration
--Ensures the integrity and confidentiality of academic records, maintaining compliance with FERPA, the Solomon Act, and other college policies and state and federal regulations
--Supervises the coordination, evaluation, and certification of all graduation applications, while overseeing the complete graduation process to include all elements of the rehearsal and ceremony
--Provides leadership and develops appropriate recommendations for the implementation of related technology applications in support of enhanced services offered through the department
--Prepares and maintains the college operating procedures for the Registrar’s office
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have an appropriate combination of education, training, and experience in student personnel services, higher education administration or a related field. Experience as a Registrar in a Florida college of similar size as Edison State College is preferred. The candidate should be well-versed and skilled in student services technological resources, preferably with experience of Banner and Degree Works.
A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education is required; a master’s degree with academic preparation and training in student personnel services, higher education administration, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have five years of full-time professional work experience in a secondary or higher education registration, enrollment management, or admissions office.
The successful candidate will have the knowledge and skills to build and maintain positive, productive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Other qualifications include:
--Strong organizational and planning skills, as well as a working knowledge of budget management
--A commitment to student-centered enrollment services strongly desirable
--Experienced advanced user of an integrated student database
--Candidates should have demonstrated the ability to:
--Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
--Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public
--Work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
--Exercise discretion and good judgment at all times and in all contexts and maintain client confidentiality
--Work effectively with all constituencies of the College
--Collect, organize, analyze, and present legal and governmental information in a meaningful manner
