Savannah State University, a unit of the University System of Georgia, invites letter of application and nominations for the position of Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. Application deadline is January 28, 2013.

Savannah State University, a unit of the University System of Georgia, seeks an experienced academic administrator to serve as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVP) reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA). The AVP advises the VPAA on matters of educational policy and development of the University’s teaching, research, and community service programs. Additionally, the Associate Vice President assists the VPAA in supervision of all aspects of the University’s academic programs, budgeting, institutional research reports, including oversight of enrollment management and of the registrar.

The Opportunity
The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs represents the VPAA as needed. As a member of the academic leadership, the AVP works closely with the academic deans on academic program development, academic policies, faculty and staff development, strategic planning, accreditation, institutional effectiveness, academic assessments, enrollment and other duties assigned by the VPAA.

Requirements
An earned doctorate from an accredited university is required. Other requirements include:
--A minimum of eight years in higher education
--Significant administrative experience at the level of department chair or equivalent
--A proven record of teaching and scholarship sufficient to qualify for appointment at the rank of associate professor in one of the departments of the University
--Ability to work collaboratively and effectively across disciplines and with personnel at every level of the organization
--Ability to work with diverse student populations and stakeholders
--Experience with online degree programs
--Proven success in preparing and implementing grant proposals
--Experience with international programs and curriculum development with a global focus

Candidates must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with attention to details, deadlines, and making decisions. Additionally, exceptional interpersonal and analytical skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to the principles of higher education are required.
