Tacoma Community College is a nationally recognized public community college located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, just south of Seattle. TCC enrolls more than 10,000 students each quarter. We are seeking innovative leaders for a key faculty and administrative positions.
This position is responsible to prepare and teach courses in English for a four (4) week Short-Term Program at Tacoma Community College. Students in this Short-Term Program are from a university in Korea and will be attending TCC for four (4) weeks to improve their English and understanding of the American Culture. The candidate will have demonstrated a history of effectiveness in their instructional discipline and engage students in the classroom. A strong foundation in intercultural awareness, communication and student development is required to teach a short-term program. Our short term program class will consist of international students with varying levels of English proficiency.
•Prepare and teach courses in English with the focus on reading, composition, grammar and pronunciation.
•Work with the program coordinator to align classes with scheduled cultural and educational activities.
•Masters degree in Education or related field from an accredited college or university.
•Experience using a variety of technology and tools both in and out of the classroom.
•Experience in working with a diverse student population in a college environment.

Terms of Employment
This is position contracted on a quarterly basis. This position will work up to up to 15 varied hours while the program is in progress The position is expected to last from January 2013 through beginning of February 2013. Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the needs of the department. The compensation is 47156 which includes class time, class preparation, office hours, and advising. Instructors will be compensated for meetings with lead staff, welcome ceremony and farewell ceremony, and for advising specific activities.
