Antioch College seeks applications for a tenure-track appointment in Spanish for the 2013-2014 academic year. Applicants must have native or near-native command of Spanish, and a Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition or Spanish Language Pedagogy. Experience teaching in proficiency based programs is highly desired. The successful applicant will be expected to teach classes of all undergraduate levels in Spanish language and culture face to face and online. In addition, applicants will be expected to be closely involved with student advising, including language placement interviews, and developing individualized language learning plans. Because of the co-op program and its international placements, special attention needs to be given to Spanish language use in work and other cultural settings. The ideal candidate will have the ability to contribute in all departmental cultural events including but not limited to language tables, festivals, and film series. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the overall development of the language program as needed. Rank and tenure status are open depending on qualifications, and salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
In addition to evidence of successful language teaching experience, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to quality undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The appointment starts July 1, 2013.
