Keene State College’s Modern Languages Department is seeking qualified applicants for a tenure-track position in Spanish at the Assistant Professor level to begin fall semester 2013. We seek a specialist in Contemporary Transatlantic Studies (20th, 21st centuries) with an ability to teach Spanish language and culture classes at all levels.
Responsibilities include teaching basic levels of Spanish as well as advanced courses in literature, composition and conversation; student advisement; and active participation in departmental activities and college committees. Teaching load is six 4-credit courses per year. Faculty members are also encouraged to teach courses in the College's Integrative Studies Program, as well as mentor undergraduate research. Our Spanish program has 20-25 majors, 12-15 minors, and offers a teacher certification option. It also serves Arts and Humanities students completing a language requirement and students in the College’s Integrative Studies general education program.

Qualifications Required: Ph.D. in Spanish by June 2013, native or near-native fluency in Spanish, college teaching experience, study abroad or residence in a Spanish-speaking area outside the US, demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, active scholarship, experience incorporating multicultural perspectives into the college classroom, and knowledge of second language pedagogy. Salary will be based on a Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement, and is $61,720 minimum for the rank of Assistant Professor for fall 2013.
