Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Classical Studies.
This is a full-time tenure eligible position that will begin in August, 2013.
The teaching load is 3/3 and may include all levels of courses in the major as well as collaborations with other academic departments such as History and Education. Candidate should show evidence of an active research program and meet college expectations for service by tenure eligible faculty members.
We seek a broadly trained classicist, able to teach Latin and Greek at all levels, Classics in Translation, Mythology, Greek Civilization and Roman Civilization, as well as participate in the college's freshman Inquiry Seminar program.
Teaching experience and Ph.D. in hand are required; Evidence of excellent teaching skills a plus.
Preference will be given to applicants with a background in Latin pedagogy who are interested in preparing undergraduates for Minnesota K-12 licensure in Latin.
The ideal candidate will direct Concordia's Latin Days (a Latin competition for middle and high school students similar to JCL) and be willing to participate in Concordia's May Seminar program.
