This Project Manager will be responsible for technical project management and application development in support of the research mission of the UF Office of Research.
Project management duties include coordinating application developer tasks, team leadership, requirements analysis and specification development; leadership and commitment to all aspects of the software development life cycle using industry best practices in a team environment; object-oriented design and development; data analysis, database design and SQL development; software testing and quality assurance; software documentation and end-user technical support.
The Manager will be responsible for developing and driving project timelines in coordination with internal and external resources. The position requires a professional, results-oriented attitude and attention to detail.
The Manager will assist in the design, development, testing and deployment of automated systems and other tools to improve quality and productivity of the research enterprise. The person will participate in the determination of requirements, and assist with the evaluation, design, and development and implementation of information systems. In all efforts, proper documentation for all systems and solutions will be maintained.
The Project Manager will also participate in short-range planning and provide input to long-range planning regarding emerging data and systems issues.
A high school diploma and four years of any combination of relevant experience, education and/or certification. The level of expertise and skill required to qualify for a position in this classification is generally attained through combinations of education and experience in the field. While such employees commonly have a bachelor’s or higher degree, no particular academic degree is required.
The candidate must be highly analytical, demonstrate problem-solving skills and be able to communicate clearly and effectively. The successful applicant will demonstrate an independent work initiative, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, diplomacy and a professional demeanor. A desire to be immersed in the inner workings of research administration and compliance at a major research university is required.
