Position Summary: The Visual Design Strategist II develops and implements specific strategies for the University's main websites, including social media sites, key University initiatives and many departments and offices across the campus. He/She plays an integral role in the development of messaging for these entities and oversees the effective application of structural, informational, visual and interactive articulation across mediums: Web, print, multimedia and social media. He/she interacts with and guides key stakeholders to ensure the needs of high-level University communications projects are met.

Essential Qualifications: The employee must be a highly analytical thinker with prior project management experience. He/She must be collaborative and an effective communicator; possess a strong customer service orientation, be able to think creatively and strategically; and have a track record of providing effective strategic communication solutions for a diverse community and within a changing environment.

- A Bachelor's degree, or equivalent professional experience, is required for this position.
- Expertise in visual design including aspects ranging from typography to logo development and color theory, color correction, and ability to apply in all mediums.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex initiatives and projects serving various customers with available resources; ability to respond quickly to changing business needs and priorities. Knowledge of processes such as creative briefs, mood boards, and collaborating with internal and external partners is essential.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills and a track record in developing innovative solutions.
- Advanced written/oral/interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information and material in a discretionary manner.
- Must gain the knowledge of and demonostrate a commitment to the values and mission of Princeton and higher education, as well as the goals and guiding principles of the Office of Communications.
- Knowledge of printing processes such as offset and digital printing technologies.
- Applicants must have a minimum of seven to ten years of professional experience in communications strategy within an academic, nonprofit, corporate or consulting setting.

He/She must be able to work in MAC and PC environments; must be familiar with or willing to learn the applications for, as well as the possibilities and limitations of, various Web languages including PHP, SQL, HTML (5), XHTML, XML, XSL, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX and ActionScript/Flash; be proficient in Roxen CMS; have user experience strategy and design skills including expertise in information architecture and content strategy. He/She must also know image and layout manipulation programs including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. The Visual Design Strategist must be detail-oriented with advanced writing skills. He/She must be able to multitask, must be able to work with creative teams and must be able to work well with diverse colleagues and audiences.

He/She must have strong project management and problem solving skills with the ability to conceptualize projects and complete them on budget and on time.

The finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.

Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of Princeton University and higher education is a plus.
- Graduate coursework or equivalent work experience in user experience design and visual design are plusses.
