Position Summary: The Facilities department seeks a Systems Administrator and Technical Support Analyst to join the Facilities IT Staff. The Systems Administrator and Technical Support Analyst will lead a team of two desktop support staff and have responsibility for the setup, configuration, and ongoing management of Facilities' Windows Servers, PCs and storage infrastructure. The successful candidate will participate in the planning, design, installation, testing, and maintenance of the Windows-based systems that support Facilities and business functions of the university. The position also requires working closely with colleagues in OIT as well as collaboration with technical staff in university departments to provide timely and creative support of infrastructure development projects.

The Systems Administrator and Technical Support Analyst will:
- Provide Windows administration support to Microsoft Windows Server platforms including IIS, MS SQL, .NET and SharePoint.
- Install, maintain and support multifaceted software used across Windows platforms.
- Configure and manage server hardware.
- Analyze requirements and determine system configurations and features needed to support client applications and workloads.
- Provide technical expertise in the resolution of operating system and infrastructure problems.
- Participate in testing new versions of software such as Windows operating systems, IIS, clustering, virtualization (servers and desktops) and other infrastructure products.
- Create, maintain and/or enhance systems documentation.
- Provide technical leadership to team members and other colleagues in matters of subject expertise.
- Insure all university and departmental IT protocols are strictly adhered to.

The candidate must be willing to support Facilities departmental work including responding immediately to server outages, deadline dates, and peak periods. Departmental servers may host confidential and legally protected data; therefore, the candidate is required to work closely with the Office of Information Technology on security protocol and review.

This is a one year term position with the possibility of renewal.

Essential Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a minimum of three years of experience in supporting a Microsoft Windows server and PC environment. The candidate must have strong experience in administration, maintenance, server administration and support of the following operating systems: Windows Server 2003/2008, Windows7, and Vista. The position requires the ability to install, configure and troubleshoot a variety of desktop computing applications, networking applications, server administration and information access tools in a heterogeneous environment. Candidate must install, configure and support laptops and Princeton DeSC machines (Common Desktop Environment) and provide guidance to the department on their purchase and use.

The successful candidate must also have:
- Previous experience as a systems/server administrator and a desire to keep abreast of new and emerging software and hardware technologies.
- Experience in Windows server operating systems and Windows infrastructure platforms, such as Active Directory, IIS, MS SQL and SharePoint.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in installing, maintaining, archiving, restoring and supporting Windows server operating systems.
- The ability to apply her/his skills and knowledge to solve complex problems in the Windows operating environment.
- Experience in system patch management.
- The ability to learn new systems beyond area of expertise.
- The ability to communicate effectively with diverse user base having varied levels of technical proficiencies
- Initiative, excellent organizational skills, the ability to work within a team and to work independently, managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong customer service attitudes and skills.
- At times, he or she may have to carry a heavy piece of equipment to another location, so that individual must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications: - Certifications of A+, MCP, MCSE, MCSA, and Exchange Administrator recommended. Preference will also be given to candidates with expert knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007/2010, all aspects and functions of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Experience with TCP/IP and the ability to do network sniffing, traffic analysis, and the development of firewall rules
- Experience supporting Mac OSX, Mac desktops, laptops, iPads, and iPhone is also desired.

Finalist will be required to successfully pass a background check.
