Receiving Dock/Stockroom Assistant

This job expired 1 month ago.Position Summary: Receive, sort, record and deliver packages and supplies from all local, express and bulk carriers to SEAS departmental mailrooms. Pick up, deliver and move items per customer requests. Provide assistance monitoring stockroom activity, unpacking items, stocking shelves and reviewing current inventory balances.
Duties and Responsibilities ? percentage allocation

- 35% Individual will move, log and deliver packages to SEAS departments, not limited to the handling of perishables, chemicals, gas cylinders, liquid helium dewars, crates and skids.
- 35% With guidance from the loading dock staff, oversee the receiving dock to ensure all areas are kept free of debris, chemicals, hazardous waste, etc, maintaining full compliance with University & EHS safety guidelines.
- 30% Assist in stockroom daily operations. This includes verifying placed orders, unpacking and stocking shelves, understanding item conversions/units; usage of binding equipment; learn and implement procedures for vans, liquid nitrogen, gas cylinders, laptop projectors and binding equipment usage.
Perform other tasks as directed by University management and customer requests.
Essential Qualifications: - Knowledge of shipping/receiving, proper handling of packages, perishables, chemicals, stockroom inventory and monitoring of all items.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with ability to take direction and work with others.
- Must be able to work rapidly, efficiently and multi-task during loading dock peak activity periods.
- Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Stand or walk 2-4 hours at one time per day
- Lift or carry up to 30-50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the workday)
- Lift or carry up to 100 pounds occasionally (less than 33% of the workday)
- Ability to operate and use pallet jacks, hand trucks, etc. to transport equipment exceeding 100 lbs.
- Repetitively use hands for simple grasping, pushing, or pulling.
- Work outdoors and on a loading dock in a variety of environmental conditions.
Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of proper handling of packages, chemicals, gas cylinders
- Familiarity with Princeton University campus resources, computing systems and culture
Education Required: High School or Equivalent
