Position Summary: Reporting to the Institute Director, the Associate Director will be responsible for managing the research and project initiatives of a leading university-based research center with an innovative approach to international affairs, diplomacy, and conflict resolution; a commitment to teaching and outreach; and an ambitious research and publication agenda.

The Associate Director will:

 Work closely with the Institute Director to maintain current program initiatives and to devise and implement new program initiatives that complement the vision, strategy, and goals of the Institute.

 Work closely with the Institute Director to recruit visiting researchers and scholars, especially those with independent funding whose work focuses on Institute research-area priorities.

 In close cooperation with the Director and the Executive Committee:

o Coordinate and develop the Institute's Program on Religion, Diplomacy and International Relations, PORDIR - both in academic scope, curriculum, and participation.

o Manage program agendas and participants to increase the Institute's academic and policy-related research output.

o Direct and develop the graduate and undergraduate activities of the Institute.

o Coordinate the Institute's digital research and database initiatives including the Princeton Encyclopedia of Self-Determination, PESD, the Digital Interactive Regional Mapping and Information System (DIRMAIS), and the Nationalism, Ethnicity, and Self-Determination Index (NESDI).

 Contribute to the academic life of the university through individual research projects and teaching.

 Identify and conduct outreach to alumni, potential campus, and external targets of opportunity for program participation and collaboration.

Salary to be determined according to applicant's experience.

Essential Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have both academic and administrative experience and must be able to work independently on mid- to long-term projects, while at the same time maintaining an individual research agenda and performing an array of short-term tasks in a collaborative setting. The position requires excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills. The position may include teaching in the applicant's field of specialty (pending departmental need and approval by the Dean of the Faculty).

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in the humanities or social sciences preferred.
