The Recruiting Specialist is a member of the Graduate School of Professional Accounting(GSPA) reporting to the Director of Graduate Tax and Accounting Programs. The Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director with promoting GSPA programs and actively recruiting new students for the programs. The programs include the MS in Accounting/MBA, the MS in Accounting, and the MS in Taxation. The Specialist is responsible for creating the recruiting activity schedule, overseeing all recruiting support activities, in addition to assisting with actually recruiting. There are four main types of recruiting activities: undergraduate school and MBA fairs and forums, on-site corporate information sessions, accounting firm specific on-site information sessions, GSPA program specific information sessions, & GSBA general information sessions. While most recruiting activities occur in person, the specialist will be expected to participate in scheduled on-line chat sessions with prospective applicants throughout the year. Because the programs have a variety of start dates, recruitment activities must be carried out year round.
The Recruiting Specialist will respond to inquiries, will qualify potential applicants, and make recommendations to the Director. In addition, the specialist is a member of the GSPA Admissions Committee, reviewing applications, and assisting with interviewing as needed.
Bachelor’s degree required with advanced degree, preferably in business or higher education administration, desired. At least five year’s experience in business and/or academic recruiting, admissions and marketing, activities. Knowledge of accounting & taxation preferred, not required. Excellent interpersonal, oral presentation, and written communication skills. Expertise in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and database management. Professional presence and maturity in dealing with a variety of audiences, external and internal to the university. Strong project management/organizational skills with attention to detail, commitment to quality, and ability to balance multiple demands from demanding constituencies. Creativity, positive can-do attitude, flexibility, initiative, and ability to function effectively as leader and as member of a team. Responsive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement. Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends, and to travel if required.
