Northeastern University’s Ocean Genome Legacy Center of New England Biolabs (www.oglf.org) seeks a postdoctoral research associate to investigate the identity, function, and transport of lignocellulose-active enzymes in wood-eating (xylotrophic) bivalves (shipworms). This is a 2-year appointment (with possibility for extension), funded by an award from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of extension.
Must have a Ph.D. or equivalent. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable and experienced in one or more of the following disciplines: genomics, proteomics, and bioinformatics, microbiology, microscopy and advanced imaging. The candidate must have excellent laboratory skills in molecular biology and microbiology. Knowledge of enzymology of lignocellulose degradation is also desirable. The candidate will be expected to participate in educational and outreach programs as well as undergraduate intern training and supervision. OGL seeks an employee with excellent organizational, communication and laboratory skills, who pays strong attention to detail and has the desire and ability to work well in a collaborative group setting.
The position is available starting 2 January 2014, and will be located on the campus of Northeastern University’s Marine Science Center in Nahant, MA.
The Ocean Genome Legacy Center is a marine biodiversity archive and research organization dedicated to exploration, description, documentation and preservation of the genomic diversity of the oceans.
