Position Summary:
•Support the testing, planning, development, and implementation of online educational technology and instruction for the Graduate School of Engineering.
•Support course instructors in their use of online and lecture capture technologies.
•Develop instructional materials for online courses including learning activities in a LMS, capturing and editing of instructional videos.
•Develop strategies to interact with students who take online courses (including Streaming Video).
•Test out new innovative instructional technology and make recommendations on the applicability for learning in an online setting.
•Serve as a resource regarding course development, course redesign and technological solutions.
•Prepare schedules and offerings for online courses.
•Develop materials to promote online courses.
•Manage the GSE website, to assure that all information related to online education is up to date.
•Work with other GSE staff to process online applications and student enrollment, providing data to support monitoring activities, and supporting student retention initiatives.
•Document student activity and performance in online courses.
•Develop and implement techniques to evaluate the quality of online courses.
Work with the GSE Director and with the Directors of Professional MS programs on special tasks/projects related to online education.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience related to or supporting educational technology, instructional design, and or course development experience in a university or business training setting. Master’s degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or related field is preferred.
•Computer literacy, including familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets; familiarity with learning management systems; and video editing and conversion software.
•Familiarity with various educational technologies have an online learning impact
•Ability to test out innovative technologies and make recommendations as to the applicability to online education
•Knowledge of course design using a learning management system; website design, development and maintenance; and video capture and editing is recommended.
•Excellent writing and editing skills
•Experience in dealing with students and faculty recommended.
•Needs to have leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make independent judgments as it relates to course design, development, implementation, and evaluation in an online setting.
•Needs to have a demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities concurrently, work independently in a fluid and dynamic environment.
•Strong organizational and communication skills required.
•Must be highly organized and self directed.
