Working closely with the Director of Gift Planning and the Director of Development for the College of Engineering this position will actively build a portfolio of loyal donors and prospects with a goal of closing irrevocable and revocable planned gifts to maximize revenue to the College of Engineering (COE). This position reports to the Director of Gift Planning, collaborating closely with all members of the COE development team to employ planned gift strategy whenever possible and to conduct joint visits with the COE team on a regular basis. As a member of the Office of Gift Planning, this position will leverage resources, knowledge and technical expertise specifically for the benefit of the College fundraising effort.
Specific duties include cold calling loyal donors and completing discovery visits; responding to inquiries from COE alums; preparing planned giving illustrations and proposals; assisting and advising the COE development team with planned giving strategies; initiating planned giving prospect review and strategy development for $100-500k level prospects so that maximum giving is achieved.
The qualified candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and at least five to seven years of gift planning or fundraising experience, or comparable work experience gained within the legal or financial planning professions. Demonstrated, quantified success in securing planned gifts or visits is highly desirable.
Team player, able to relate effectively with all levels of staff, alumni and volunteers. High level of self-confidence, creativity, enthusiasm, engagement, self-motivation and energy needed to achieve ambitious goals. Ability to work independently in achieving activity and revenue goals. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to share core values and mission with prospects and donors. Willingness to travel as needed, including overnights and weekends, both within and outside the New England states.
