Full Professor - Personalized Medicine
Requisition Number: FTFR000425
Division/College: Bouve College of Health Sciences
FT/PT: Full Time
The Bouvé College of Health Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Science, and the College of Computer and Information Science at Northeastern University invite applications for several faculty positions for thought leaders at the Full Professor level in the area of Personalized Medicine. Improving global health requires an integrated effort focused on prevention and early intervention and one that recognizes individual and environmental patterns of disease progression and treatment. Northeastern University is pursuing a revolutionary initiative to create the Institute for Targeted Therapeutics that aims to accelerate our leadership in drug discovery, especially in the hybridization of biologic and small molecule drugs. We are seeking senior, high-level talented individuals whose expertise is in the areas of: (1) targeted therapeutics; (2) sensor development for health and diagnostics; (3) affective science; and (4) computational behavioral science. We are recruiting candidates with a stellar record of accomplishment in teaching, extramurally-funded research and scholarly publication who would qualify for tenure and bring great depth and breadth to our initiative.
In the area of targeted therapeutics, we seek talented individuals to build on our strengths in small-molecule drug discovery, biologics, and drug delivery to create a unique center for the development of targeted therapeutics and diagnostics in the rapidly rising field of antibody-drug conjugates. We seek expertise in antibody-drug conjugates, immunology, bioprocess engineering and cellular and molecular engineering to work in an interdisciplinary capacity with our faculty from bioengineering, medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, and disease biology.
In the area of sensor development, we seek senior faculty members whose work is focused on the development of sensor systems (wearable, internal) for measuring, modeling, and influencing human behavior. Creating solutions for health requires the development of transformative sensor systems for measuring, modeling, and influencing human behavior. Sensors are key to innovations in personalized medicine as they determine molecular events that are indicative of disease. The ideal candidate will have funded and fundable research in the area of design, development, and testing of sensors for human disease and disorders.
In the area of affective science, we seek high-level faculty members whose expertise is in the areas of neuroscience and/or the science of emotion. Neuroscience research that addresses emotion, stress, depression, and the costs associated with these disorders can bring promising solutions and diminish the human suffering and costs resulting from these problems. We seek a highly qualified researcher whose work will interface with our other areas of development as we explore the ability to assist, augment, repair, or influence mental and physical abilities through network systems and/or direct neural connections.
In the area of computational behavioral science, we seek senior researchers whose expertise is in developing integrated technologies for multimodal computational sensing and modeling to capture, measure, analyze, and understand human behaviors. The problem of modeling, analyzing, and understanding human behavior from sensor data is a fundamental computational challenge, which if successful, will impact many health disciplines including self-care and self-management, elder care, wellness promotion, assistive technologies, early identification and treatment of mental and physical disorders, and rehabilitation medicine. Scientists whose work will ultimately provide new tools for understanding the complex links between behavior and decision making, emotion and stress, environmental exposures, and genetics are sought for this high-level senior faculty position.
Doctorate or Terminal degree in a discipline related to Personalized Medicine or related to one of the expertise areas listed above is required. At least 5 years of experience conducting research and/or teaching is required. Must have a record of publication and research funding commensurate with rank and appointment with tenure.
A complete on-line application includes a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement, teaching statement, and three references. Letters of reference will be requested at a later stage in the search process.
Note: Requisition Numbers FTFR000422, FTFR000424 and FTFR000425 are a part of the same search and applications from these requisitions will be considered altogether.
