Under the general direction of the Director, the Disability Specialist is responsible for the formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of appropriate services for students with disabilities with a focus on maintaining cutting-edge student-centered services. Provide disability-related support services and specialized advising to ensure equitable student participation in the University. Assist current and prospective students and their families through the process of acquiring appropriate documentation and registering for services. Coordinate, in conjunction with the Service Coordinator, and Note taking Coordinator, academic adjustments/accommodations and support services primarily who have psychological disabilities and students on the spectrum.
Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Educational Psychology or related field or, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Minimum two years’ experience working with students in postsecondary education providing advocacy and support services within a college setting. Working knowledge of ADAAA and regulations and ability to explain them and the implications for students with disabilities.
