Position Summary:
The Director of Marketing and Communications will coordinate public relations, marketing and communications efforts to convey a high quality image of the College of Engineering. Responsibilities will include communicating college news to prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty, parents, and donors. In close collaboration with the Director of Development for the College of Engineering, the Director of Marketing and Comm. will serve as the point person to Northeastern University Office of Public Relations, Web Services, Admissions, Advancement, Alumni Relations/Magazine, and Communications Council to promote placement of the College’s news and accomplishments, both internally and externally. The Director of Marketing and Comm. will develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for the College and will also manage college-wide writing projects, graphic design, and website development and maintenance together with overseeing the articulation of the College’s external image. Responsibilities also include the direct supervision of a staff that includes a Marketing Coordinator and a Web Designer and Content Coordinator and also coordinate communications efforts and public relations with departments, programs, and centers.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred. Degree in English, Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations preferred. Six to eight years of experience, with at least 5 in print communications including exceptional writing, editing, graphic design, pre-press and print preparation skills. Strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills; Ability to work well independently and as part of a team; Ability to effectively manage several projects simultaneously and be detail-oriented; Proven ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with many constituencies with a strong customer-service focus. Experience working in higher education preferred.
