Position Summary:

The Director of Enrollment Marketing and Communication provides leadership, strategic direction, and financial management for all marketing and communications related to undergraduate recruitment and admissions programs which include student search, inquiry and applicant communication, outreach & Scholarship programs (Torch, BPHS) , International outreach programs (Global Pathways, USPP), New Student Orientation & Parent and Family Programs, and International Student and Scholar Institute programs. In addition, the Director of Enrollment Marketing and Communications will provide leadership and oversight for marketing and communications for graduate recruitment and enrollment for professional masters programs.


Reporting directly to the Vice President of Enrollment, the Director will be responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing strategic and integrated communications and marketing plans which include print, electronic and direct mail communications to critical university constituents: more than 300,000 prospective students, newly enrolling undergraduate and graduate students, parents, alumni involved in admissions process, guidance counselors and other secondary school audiences. In collaboration with the Director of Enrollment Research, this position is responsible for coordinating strategic market research necessary to inform the development of new marketing and communications activities as well as other assessments of customer satisfaction and marketing impact. Wrap-around responsibility for integrated content across all media vehicles including social media, and the myNEU portals for all prospective, admitted and newly enrolling students and parents is also under the Director’s purview.


To successfully develop and implement these strategic plans, the Director will provide supervision and direction for a staff of four. The Director works collaboratively with the Associate Vice President of Enrollment, the Dean of Admission, the Director of International Recruitment, the Director of Orientation and Admission Programs, and the Associate Deans in the Colleges. In addition, the Director works in conjunction with senior leaders in the Enrollment Management and Student Affairs division including the Senior Vice President, the Senior Director for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Marketing & Communication, and the Vice President for Student Affairs. This position collaborates closely with the central University Marketing and Communication division.

Qualifications:

Master’s in Communications/Marketing, MBA or other relevant advanced degree; 7+ years of direct, increasingly responsible experience in marketing and communications; higher education and admissions marketing experience highly desirable; experience in directing website design and use of e-communications in creating marketing and communication plans; highly knowledgeable about the strategic use of social media in communication and marketing; experience in the development of print materials and direct mail campaigns; experience writing copy and editing; knowledgeable in market research; strong project management and supervisory skills; direct experience developing and implementing strategies to achieve institutional objectives; demonstrated leadership skills, exceptional written and verbal communication, and strong background in budget management; ability to work in a dynamic deadline-driven environment.
